Campaign Design - Spells: Curtain of Darkness

Curtain of Darkness (adapted from Relics & Rituals)
Evocation [Darkness]

Level: Penumbral Lord 5, Shadow 5, Sorcerer/Wizard 5
Components: S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Medium (100 feet + 10 feet per caster level)
Target, Effect, or Area: Wall up to 10 feet long per caster level or a sphere or hemisphere with a radius of up to 5 feet plus 1 foot per caster level
Duration: Concentration + 1 round per caster level
Saving Throw: Reflex negates plus Fortitude negates (see text)
Spell Resistance: Yes (object)

A curtain of darkness cannot be seen through with any sort of vision, just as described in the spell shadow shield. While dimension door and similar spells will bypass the curtain, anyone who attempts to physically pass through it immediately suffers 2d6 + 1 per caster level (maximum +20) points of damage (no saving throw) and must also make a Fortitude saving throw or gain one negative level. The negative level fades in one day, and there is no chance of it becoming permanent. If the spherical or hemispherical construction of the wall is used to entrap a subject, the target gets a Reflex save to avoid imprisonment.
