Campaign Design - Spells: Boar Shield

Boar Shield (adapted from Relics & Rituals: Excalibur)
Abjuration [Heraldry]

Level: Cleric/Favored Soul 7, Heraldry 7
Components: V, S, DF
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target, Effect, or Area: Shield touched
Duration: 1 round per caster level
Saving Throw: None (harmless)
Spell Resistance: No (harmless)

This spell creates a shimmering, magical field around the touched shield, imparting the unbridled ferocity of the boar to the wielder. The shield’s wielder temporarily gains a +8 morale bonus to Strength and Constitution, a +4 morale bonus to Will saves, a -2 penalty to Armor Class, and fast healing 1. When the wielder reaches a negative hit point total equal to his Constitution modifier, he may perform as though disabled, making either a move or standard action every round until taken to a negative hit point total equal to his Constitution (at which point he dies immediately), or the wielder’s hit points return to 1 or higher. In all other respects, the effects are like those of a barbarian’s rage, save that the shield’s wielder is not fatigued when the spell effect ends (or when he loses the shield).

A person can benefit from a heraldry spell only while using the affected shield; carrying it or wearing it across one’s back is not enough. A shield can hold only one heraldry spell at any given time. If multiple heraldry spells are cast on the same shield, only the most recently cast applies.
