Campaign Design - Spells: Durlock's Withering Pox

Durlock's Withering Pox (from the Player's Guide to Wizards, Bards, and Sorcerers)
Necromancy

Level: Sorcerer/Wizard 5
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target, Effect, or Area: One creature
Duration: 1 round per caster level (D)
Saving Throw: Fortitude negates
Spell Resistance: Yes

This spell inflicts 1d6 Constitution damage and paralyzes the target. A Fortitude save negates both these effects. Those affected by failing their initial save must make another Fortitude saving throw each round to throw off the effects the wasting disease. Failure on these subsequent rounds inflicts another 1d6 Constitution damage as well. This damage stops once the target has succeeded at a Fortitude save or after 1 round per caster level.

Those whose Constitution is reduced to 0 or less by Durlock's Withering Pox become wights. These creatures are not under the control of the caster and can be turned or rebuked as normal.

Material component: A piece of decayed flesh from a wight and a gem worth 500 shillings.
