Campaign Design - Spells: Float

Float (from Giant Lore)
Transmutation

Level: Bard 2, Sorcerer/Wizard 2
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 feet + 5 feet per 2 caster levels)
Target, Effect, or Area: One creature
Duration: 10 minutes per caster level
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

The subject of this spell floats up to one foot above the ground or other solid walking surface (water or any other nonsolid or unstable surface may not be crossed). The creature must still travel above a roughly horizontal surface. As the subject of the spell does not come into contact with the surface, it automaticlly succeeds on any Balance checks required when walking on slippery or uneven surfaces. In addition, the subject is immune to spells and effects that target the ground beneath him (such as entangle, grease, or rock to mud). Likewise, the subject is immune to caltrops or other items that are placed on the ground. A creature subject to this spell can move into an area without activating pressure plates, trip wires, or other triggers that are close to the ground. Ther subject of this spell only suffers half damage from falls and gains electricity resistance 5, but has very little stability and cannot run.

Material component: The wing of a butterfly.
