Campaign Design - Spells: Incantation of the Broken Limb

Incantation of the Broken Limb (from Nyambe: African Adventures)
Necromancy

Level: Flesh 1, Sorcerer/Wizard 2
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 feet + 5 feet per 2 caster levels)
Target, Effect, or Area: One living creature with limbs and a skeleton
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude partial
Spell Resistance: Yes

The target of the spell suffers 1d4 points of damage per caster level (maximum 5d4) and must make a Fortitude save or suffer from an arm or leg injury (caster's choice as to which). If an arm injury is inflicted, the victim suffers a -2 penalty to all roll that involve use of the arm such as attack rolls, Swim checks, and so on. If a leg injury is inflicted, the target suffers a -2 penalty to all rolls that involve the use of the leg such as Jump check, Reflex saves, and so on. The penalties remain until all the damage caused by the spell is fully healed through either magical or mundane means.

A target that makes a successful Fortitude save takes only half damage and does not suffer a limb injury. Targets without skeletons or limbs are not affected by this spell.

Material component: The arm or leg bone of a small animal.
