Campaign Design - Spells: Cross of Lightning

Target, Effect, or Area: Four bolts, 5-feet wide to a medium range (100 feet + 10 feet per caster level) or 10-feet wide to 50 feet + 5 feet per caster level

Four lightning bolts leap from you at the same time in different directions. You choose the direction that one bolt travels. Two others travel away from you at 90-degree angles to the left and right; the last travels in the exact opposite direction. You may make the bolts 10 feet or 5 feet wide, but they all must be the same. Each bolt inflicts 1d6 points of damage per caster level (maximum 15d6 per bolt) to each creature within its area.

The lightning bolts set fire to combustibles and damages objects in their path. They can melt metals with a low melting point, such as lead, gold, copper, silver, or bronze. If the damage caused to an interposing barrier shatters or breaks through it, a bolt may continue beyond the barrier if the spell’s range permits; otherwise, it stops at the barrier just as any other spell effect does.

Material component: Four bits of fur and an amber crystal or glass rod.
