Campaign Design - Spells: Gutroot

Gutroot (from Relics & Rituals)
Transmutation

Level: Druid/Spirit Shaman 5, Plant 5
Components: V, S, M, DF
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Medium (100 feet + 10 feet per caster level)
Target, Effect, or Area: One creature (see text)
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Fortitude negates
Spell Resistance: Yes

The target of this spell must be either an herbivore or an omnivore (that is, one who actually eats plants on occasion) and is permitted a Fortitude save. Success simply indicates an upset stomach. Failure indicates that the caster has seized all the undigested or partially digested plant matter in the target's stomach, fused it into a whole, living mass and caused it to grow at a tremendous rate, seeking the warmth of sunshine and nourishing soil. This causes 1d6 points of damage per caster level (maximum 15d6). If this damage is enough to kill the target, it is assumed that the writhing plant-tentacles have burst their roots through the abdomen of the victim and sprouted vines and foliage up his throat and out his mouth.

Material components: A small bundle of roots dripped with bile.
