Campaign Design - Spells: Raise Land

You cause earth to rise up from the ground below in either a circle or a square around you. The earth is solid and stable, and perfect to fill in a swamp or marsh, or raise an island in a lake or sea. The dirt is up to 6 feet + 1 foot per caster level deep, and stops at the surface. You can cause the earth to rise up above the ground, as long as half of the total depth of the earth remains beneath. Thus, the spell can actually create earthen ramparts, or even earthen buildings (though the spell does not shape the rising earth or create openings). The earth does not rise very quickly, and cannot hurt anyone or anything - creatures in or on the water in question have more than enough time to move before the dirt hits them. The land raised can be bare or covered with grass.

Material component: A gemstone worth at least 500 shillings.
