A sparrowhawk, is a small bird of prey with short, broad wings and a long tail, both adaptations to maneuvering through trees. Adult male sparrowhawks have bluish grey upper parts and orange-barred underparts; females and juveniles are brown above with brown barring below. The female is up to one-quarter larger than the male – one of the greatest size differences between the sexes in any bird species.

Combat
The sparrowhawk is a predator that specializes in catching woodland birds, though they can be found in any habitat and often hunts garden birds in towns and cities. Males tend to take smaller birds, including tits, finches, and sparrows; females catch primarily thrushes and starlings, but are capable of killing birds weighing a pound or more.

Skills: Sparrowhawks gain a +2 racial bonus to Spot checks in daylight.

Sparrowhawks as Familiars
Sparrowhawks can serve as familiars for characters eligible to obtain familiars including arcane engineers, hexblades, mind weavers, shadowsworn, sorcerers, and wizards. Sparrowhawks are suitable familiars for Tiny spellcasters.
