A boar is covered in coarse, grayish-black fur. Adult males are about 4 feet long and 3 feet high at the shoulder.

Combat
Though not carnivorous, these wild swine are bad-tempered and usually charge anyone who disturbs them.

Ferocity (Ex): A boar is such a tenacious combatant that it continues to fight without penalty even while disabled or dying.

Boar as Familiars
Boar can serve as familiars for characters eligible to obtain familiars including arcane engineers, hexblades, mind weavers, shadowsworn, sorcerers, and wizards. To do so, the character must take the Improved Familiar feat and be at least a 5th-level caster. An arcane caster with a boar familiar gains a +2 bonus on Survival checks.

Boar as Animal Companions
A boar may be trained using Handle Animal. A 4th-level druid, 6th-level outdoorsman, or 4th-level ranger may take a boar as an animal companion with an effective druid level modifier of -3.
