Just as parasitic fish have a symbiotic relationship with some sharks, so do lard worms have a symbiotic relationship with fatlings. Around 10 inches long and half an inch thick, lard worms live deep in the folds and recesses of fatlings' mounds of flesh, cleaning away the various unwholesome substances that accumulate there, including smothered victim's bodies. One active fatling can host as many as a few hundred worms. Lard worms almost always attack creatures that are enveloped by a fatling, as the paralysis the worms induce makes it more likely that the creature dies there and becomes food for the colony.

Combat
Lard worms strike at anything that gets caught in the folds of a fatling's oily skin. If a fatling is in combat for more than a few rounds, lard worms may become sufficiently agitated that they slither out of the fleshy crevices they inhabit to attack the fatling's enemies.

Paralysis (Ex): Those bitten by a lard worm must succeed at a DC 10 Fortitude save or be paralyzed for 1d6+5 rounds.

Vermin Traits: Mindless. LArd worms have no Intelligence score and are immune to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects).

Notes: I changed the lard worm's Intelligence score to - rather than 1 to bring them in line with the rules for vermin.
