You create a nonmagical, unattended object or objects of nonliving, vegetable matter or mineral nature: stone, crystal, metal, or the like. Multiple items of the same material can be created, so long as they are related in some way such as tools in a set, pieces of a chessboard, coins, and so on. The duration of the created item or items varies with its relative hardness and rarity, as indicated on the following table. The volume of the item created cannot exceed 1 cubic foot per caster level. You must succeed on an appropriate skill check to make a complex item.
Items created are considered to be masterwork if the caster possesses 5 or more ranks in the appropriate Craft or Profession skill.
Attempting to use any created object as a material component causes the spell to fail.
Hardness and Rarity Examples | Duration |
Vegetable matter | Permanent (spell duration is Instantaneous) |
Stone, crystal, base metals | 1 day per caster level |
Precious metals | 40 minutes per caster level |
Gems | 20 minutes per caster level |
Rare metal1 | 2 rounds per caster level |
1Includes adamantine, alchemical silver, and mithral. You can’t use major creation to create a cold iron item. |
